8,750 people will be granted two tickets each to attend the Michael Jackson memorial at the Staples Center on Tuesday. 1.6 million applied.
The Staples Center had a two-day registration period to apply for tickets and the response was amazing.11,000 fans will be granted admittance to the Staples Center event while a further 6,500 will be allowed to watch on big screens next door at sister venue the Nokia Theatre.
Police are expected between 500,000 and 750,000 to try and get into the arena on Tuesday. Streets around the Staples Center will be sealed off for the safety of those allowed to attend.
Fans without tickets are advised to stay at home and watch the service on television.
The Michael Jackson memorial will take place at 10am Tuesday July 7, 2009 California time. That is 3am Wednesday July 8 in East Coast Australia.
The service will be televised live around the world.
