The ‘Bushfire Aid: Artists for the Bushfire Appeal’ album is estimated to already be worth more than $500,000 in funding to the Victorian bushfire victims.
‘Bushfire Aid’ has sold more than 55,000 units after being on sale for 11 days. The Sony Music initiative was developed in just days under the direction of Sony chairman Dennis Handlin whose quick thinking and business savvy turned the project from idea to store product in just 5 days, including a weekend.
“The music industry has united together to support Sony Music Bushfire Aid release”, he said in a statement. “The support of the artists, songwriters, music companies, music publishers, Sony DADC manufacturing and media partners has been fantastic.”
As we are now four days in to the sales to be allocated towards this week’s chart, it is estimated that the Bushfire Aid album will once again be the biggest seller in the country yet again this week.
Because it is a compilation album, Bushfire Aid does not qualify for the ARIA chart. However, sales indicate that it is selling at a rate of around 4 ?? times the number 1.
All money raised from the sale of the Bushfire Aid album including artists royalties, will go to the bushfire appeal.
