The Australian music community has gathered to produce the ultimate music event to raise money for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal and The Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund Appeal in Queensland.
Sound Relief will be held on March 14 in Sydney and Melbourne.A press conference featuring Nic Cester from Jet, Mark Seymour from Hunters & Collectors, Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother, Tim Finn from Split Enz and Kasey Chambers along with promoter Michael Gudinski, producer Mark Pope and Victorian Premier John Brumby, was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground this morning to announce the line-up.
The shows will include Coldplay performing an acoustic set in Sydney and Kings Of Leon in Melbourne.
Jet and Wolfmother will play in both cities with each band doing one city at the start and then flying to the other for the end.
Reunions are aplenty. Hunters & Collectors will perform for the first time since 1998. Split Enz are back together for the show and Icehouse will also reunite. And then there is Midnight Oil, with politician Peter Garrett going back to what he does best ... rock.
Jack Johnson has offered his services and will fly from his Hawaiian home to perform at the Melbourne show.
Tickets have been kept to a reasonable $75 and will go on sale next Wednesday, March 4.
More acts will be announced before tickets go on sale next week.
