The Veronicas are about to become the first Australian ever to sell more than one million Digital Tracks for a single song.
‘Untouched’ is currently sitting at sales of 948,000, according to Nielson-SoundScan.The song by The Veronicas is the first Australian Top 20 hit in America since Kylie Minogue ‘Can’t Get Your Out Of My Head’ but Kylie didn’t actually sell any music.
At the time of the release of the Kylie song, the Top 40 chart was made up of airplay. It was one year before digital sales would be included in the chart and there was no physical CD release of the Kylie single in America.
That makes The Veronicas latest success all the sweeter. They are the only Australian act so far in the 21st Century to have a Top 20 hit based on sales in the USA.
‘Untouched’ is at no. 27 this week in America.
