Kelly Groucutt, bass player for the Electric Light Orchestra, has died of a heart attack at the age of 63.
Grocutt joined ELO in 1974 for the ‘Eldorado’ tour and debuted on the 1975 album ‘Face The Music’.He was lead singer on many ELO songs including ‘The Diary of Horace Wimp’, ‘Nightrider’ and ‘Poker’.
In 1982, he released his solo album ‘Kelly’ and stayed with ELO for one more album, ‘Secret Messages’ in 1983. His departure was over what he considered unfair royalty distribution. He sued Jeff Lynne and settled on £300,000.
More recently, Groucutt participated in ELO off-shoots OrKestra, ELO Part 2 and The Orchestra.
He leaves behind second wife Anna-Maria Bialaga, four children and two grandchildren.
