Elton John is " devastated and shocked" over the apparent suicide of his fellow musician and friend Bob Birch, who was found dead in an L.A aparment on Wedensday from an apparent suicide resulting from a gunshot wound to the head.
Los Angeles County Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter has stated that the case is " being investigated as a possible suicide."
Birch was a bassist and saxophonist and played in Elton Johns band for 20 years in which time he appeared in over 1400 shows with the superstar. Elton also said of Birch " He was one of the greatest musicians I have ever worked with, and in all our years on the road he never played or sang a bad note."
