Louisiana Red, guitarist, harmonica player, and singer sadly passed away on February 25 at a hospital in Hanover Germany after being in a coma for three days as the result of suffering a stroke.
Louisiana Red had been living in Germany since 1981. His music was heavily influenced by Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters and Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup.
In a career spanning over 60 years Louisiana Red released over 60 studio, live and compilation albums as well as guested for the likes of John Lee Hooker, Albert King and Brownie McGhee. He is most well known for the song " Sweet Blood Call" for which he wrote the music and performed, lyrics were courtesy of Kent Cooper. In 1981, Eric Burdon recorded a heavy live version of the song which was featured in the film Comeback in 1982.
