Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy has announced a live solo DVD, and days later punches an overeager fan.
First to the fan. While Tweedy is renowned as a slightly troubled figure in the alt-country scene, this can hardly be entirely his fault. Pitchfork Media reports that there was an "incident" at the Wilco show in Springfield, Missouri on October 16. According to varied reports, about 30 minutes into the set a fan jumped on the stage and planted a kiss on Tweedy's cheek. Understandably, Tweedy was taken aback by a fan rushing him and apparently grabbed the man by the throat and gave him a swipe, and the fan was hustled offstage.Thankfully, no such incidents occurred at the show that Tweedy has put on a DVD for fans. 'Sunken Treasure: Live In The Pacific Northwest' is Tweedy solo and will be released on Nonesuch Records on October 24 in the US. Fans can get a preview of the song 'The Thanks I Get' on their site wilcoworld.net and the group plan to stream the entire film between 9pm and midnight on October 23.
