Out of contract with Nonesuch Records, alt-country legends Wilco start their own label.
Wilco guitarist Nels Cline mentioned to Express Night Out that the band have left their home of a decade, Nonesuch Records, and started their own label. When discussing the band's recent three-hour marathon shows, Cline said that Wilco were going to focus on writing a new album to release on their own label.
He said, "Jeff was basically not wanting to be on a record label for a while — he didn't renew his contract with Nonesuch — so we're striking out on our own, our own label."
The label is 'masterminded' by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and their manager Tony Magherita, Cline doesn't even know the name yet.
Cline also divulged that Wilco will be recording "a little bit" in August and "a lot" in October but he did warn that the writing, demoing and mastering process is "going to be long".
