Music fans have gotten behind the Sony Music release of Bushfire Aid with stores across Australia reporting to Undercover that they had sold out their first shipment on the first day.
Bushfire Aid was rush-released after being announced by Sony Music last Friday to aid the bushfire victims of Victoria. It was in stores by Tuesday. All artists featured on the album, including Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Paul Kelly, Justin Timberlake and Powderfinger, have waived their royalties so that more funds could help the people devastated by the fires.
More than 1800 homes were destroyed in the blazes, which are still out of control across Victoria.
The official death toll is today listed as 200 but will be much higher as the homes destroyed in the fires continue to be searched.
