The album `Bushfire Aid: Artists For The Bushfire Appeal` was not only the biggest selling album in Australia last week but it was gone a long way to contribute much needed funds to the people affected by the Victorian bushfires.
After only being on sale for four days of last weeks chart period ‘Bushfire Aid’ has outsold Lily Allen’s ‘Its Not Me, Its You’ by 2 to 1.Because it is a compilation album, it is not registered on the overall chart but sits on top of the compilation chart.
The album was conceived and in stores within days. “The music industry has united together to support Sony Music Bushfire Aid release,” notes Denis Handlin AM, Chairman and CEO of Sony Music. “The support of the artists, songwriters, music companies, music publishers, Sony DADC manufacturing and media partners has been fantastic.”
All artists contributing to the album are donating their royalties to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. The album is expected to raise more than $200,000.
“The response to the Bushfire Aid album after the first three days at retail has been overwhelming,” says Sony Music’s Tony Glover. “Sony Music has shipped over 70,000 units and all our retail partners responded rapidly to throw their support behind this project.”
The album is available in music stores across Australia and for sale online from anywhere in the world here.
