Ed Kuepper would not yet have unpacked his socks and undies from the recent Saints shows and now he is getting another old band back together.
Laughing Clowns will perform at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival in April. The show will be the first for the band in Melbourne since 1985.
Laughing Clowns formed in 1978 after Keupper’s departure from The Saints and split in 1985.
The band was inspired by free jazz, bluegrass and krautrock.
Kuepper put the band back together in late 2008. It features original members Louise Elliot of saxophone, Biff Miller on bass and Alister Spence in keyboards.
The Melbourne International Jazz Feestival will feature 55 events over 7 days including 6 world premieres, 8 Australian premieres and 5 festival commissions.
