After getting a good old bitch slap from the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin one year ago, Beyonce has felt the sting of another Diva. This time it was Etta James.
The veteran performer has given Beyonce the big “how dare you” for performing her song ‘At Last’ for the first dance of Barack and Michelle Obama at the President’s inauguration.During a performance in Seattle this week, James performed her outburst for the audience.
"You guys know your president right? You know, the one with the big ears. Yeah, wait a minute, he ain't my president, he might be yours,” the Diva let fly.
"I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing my song, she gonna get her ass whipped. The great Beyonce. Now like I said, she ain't mine. I can't stand Beyonce!
"She had no business up there singing. Singing on a big ole, big ole president day and going be singing my song that I've been singing forever."
Last year, Beyonce recorded the song for the soundtrack of Cadillac Records.
What is funny is that it is not even Etta James` song. 21 years before James even recorded it in 1961 it was performed by the Glenn Miller Orchestra for the film ‘Orchestra Wives’.
Since James recorded it, it has been recorded hundreds of time by artists from Nat King Cole to Cyndi Lauper.
Poor old Etta. She is losing it.
