If you have been to any of the Neil Young shows on late you may have noticed someone painting at the back of the stage. That is Eric Johnson, one of the Neil Young roadies.
Eric can create as many as 11 painting during a 3-hour show. After the shows, each painting is signed by Eric and Neil and then sold at Neil’s website. Proceeds then go to the Bridge School.Eric is in Australia and was at the easel during last night’s Big Day Out show in Melbourne.
He is from Seattle. Eric was working at college radio when he started to book bands. One of those bands was Soundgarden. He designed some t-shirts for them, which they loved and they gave him a job on tour.
Next he met Pearl Jam, which led to Neil Young.
Eric has not only been working behind the scenes with Neil, the little devil also had a job as ... well, a little devil. He was The Devil in Neil’s Greendale show.
The paintings from the current tour will be available soon at neilyoung.com. View the Chrome Dream II collection now at http://www.l-gallery.com/ejpaintings/index.html
