Peeps for Rod Stewart say that the Faces reunion stories this week are all bullshit but Undercover thinks their version of bullshit is bullshit.
Billboard reports that both Stewart and Flea’s reps are denying the stories, saying that there is no album and that there will not be a tour this year. "There are no plans for a Faces reunion tour this year," the Billboard story quotes “a spokesperson” as saying but the original reunion stories were about a few shows, not a tour. The new album story surfaced via London’s Daily Mirror, but again, the original statements from Faces members did not mention an album.
Keyboard player Ian McLagan confirmed the reactivation on his website just recently. “The rehearsals were a lot of fun, everybody was in fine form and things are looking good for a gig or two next year, but these things take time to work out and I'm just going to wait until there's something solid to report, so I'm not getting excited just yet.?............I'm holding my breath”, he said.
Lets run the interesting part by you again. “A gig or two,” McLagan said.
“A gig or two” is certainly not a tour, so Rod’s smarty-pants spokesperson is technically not lying. The chances of a few shows this year are pretty good, despite Rod’s peep.
A Faces reunion will not be stalled because the band doesn’t want to do it. A spanner in the works at this stage will be lawyers working in their own self-interests for a bigger cut of their clients share.
I’m guessing we have no seen the last of The Faces stories this year. The window of opportunity for this to happen just gives them this year. Next year, The Stones will reactive taking Ron Wood out of the picture. It really is now or never for The Faces.
