John Lennon's killer will remain in prison for at least the next two years, after being denied parole for the fourth time.
The parole panel will keep Mark Chapman, now 51, incarcerated at the Attica Correctional Facility in New York, citing the "bizarre nature" of his crime. A mentally ill Chapman shot and killed Lennon on 8 December, 1980, hours after the Beatles legend had signed a copy of his 'Double Fantasy' album for the then 25-year-old.Chapman's parole hearing lasted only 16 minutes, with the panel concluding that they remain "concerned about the bizarre nature of this premeditated and violent crime". They went on to state the Chapman's release would not be in the best interest of the community.
