A newly recorded song by the Sunbury Aztecs as a tribute to their late lead singer Billy Thorpe is on the way.
A cover of ‘Love Letters’ recorded by Thorpe’s original Aztecs in the mid 60s is being worked on by Gil Matthews, Paul Wheeler and Warren ‘Pig’ Morgan with Danny Marx Young in vocals.Danny is the son of Aussie pop legend John Paul Young.
He tells Undercover News that ‘Love Letters’ is a song so many have covered in the past and cites Elvis Presley, Cilla Black and Alison Moyet as all having had a turn at covering the song.
“We are currently putting the final touches on a tribute to Billy Thorpe the song "Love Letters" at the moment and it is very exciting and there has been indeed talk of more shows in this coming year”, he tells Undercover.
Like his famous Dad, Danny has his finger in a number of musical pies. On Australia Day, he will be performing at Enmore Park in Sydney with New Sensation, an INXS covers band.
He has also recorded the theme for Channel 9’s new reality show ‘Jack Of All Trades’.
When he has other time on his hands it goes to his band Zumanity, who perform around Newcastle.
When OS, Danny works with another band called Terra Displaced in Germany.
