The 1974 Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs live album ‘Steaming At The Opera House’ will be released on CD for the very first time.
Aztecs drummer Gil Matthews will release the long out of print recording on his own Aztec Records label.
The 1974 Aztecs line-up was Thorpe on vocals and guitars, Matthews on drums, Warren ‘Pig’ Morgan on keyboards and Teddy Toi on bass.
Side 3 and 4 of the original album will be CD2 on the CD version. It features special guests Lobby Loyde, Kevin Murphy and Johnny Dick.
Almost half the songs on ‘Steaming Live At The Opera House’ were unique to the album and have never been released on Aztecs compilations.
Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs were a unique part of Australian rock history in that they mainly only released live albums. There was only ever one studio album from The Aztecs, ‘More Arse Than Class’, also on CD now through Aztec.
‘Steaming Live At The Opera House’ is the 50th release for Matthews Aztec Records. It features four bonus tracks, two rare b-sides and two previously unreleased tracks.
