Isaac Hayes` two classic albums long out of print albums `Black Moses` from 1971 and `Juicy Fruit (Disco Freak)` from 1976 are to be re-released.
‘Black Moses’ is considered one of the great soul albums of its era. The album featured his version of the Jackson 5 ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ and The Carpenters ‘Close To You’ and came at a time when Hayes was going through a marriage break-up. “I was going through some emotional turmoil. You can tell by the tunes on the album that I was going through a break-up of my marriage. It was the only way I could express myself,” he later said of the album. This will be the first time ‘Juicy Fruit (Disco Freak)’ will be on CD. Hayes released the album on his own Hot Buttered Soul label, not long after he left Stax. In his post-Stax year, he released four albums.
This is one of the few Hayes albums where Hayes wrote all of the tracks.
Both albums will be released by Concord on February 24.
