Andre Rieu has ended 2008 as the 8th biggest crowd puller of the year, despite being unknown in the USA.
Rieu was the second biggest touring act in the world in November after Madonna based on his Australian shows alone.The annual tally places him in good company after Madonna, Celine Dion, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, The Police, Neil Diamond and the Eagles and ahead of Kenny Chesney and Coldplay.
Madonna made $281.6m last year from touring. Andre pocketed $76.9m.
The Eagles, who only played every other month, made $86.6m.
At the end of 2008 in Australia, Rieu had the Top 6 DVDs of 2008 and 21 in the top 50.
