Real rock exists in Electric Mary, the Melbourne stalwart band featuring Uncle Rusty on vocals, Pete Robinson on guitar and vocals, Irwin Thomas on guitar and vocals, Fox Fagen on bass and vocals and Venom on drums.
Electric Mary isn’t scared to cite their influences. When you listen to their sound, you will understand where they came from. You might think a bit Deep Purple in ‘Sorry’, hear echoes of Bon Scott in ‘No One Does It Better Than Me’ and Led Zep isn’t too far away from ‘One In A Million’.“I could listen to Stormbringer everyday of my life and never tire of it,” Rusty states at the band’s MySpace site.
Electric Mary plays often in Melbourne. Dates for the Espy and the Hi-Fi Bar are coming up. They will also play at the Peaches and Cream festival in Cobram on January 10.
At the Electric Mary MySpace, you can hear the five tracks ‘Let Me Out’, ‘Sorry’, ‘Right Down To The Bone’, ‘No One Does It Better Than Me’ and ‘One In A Million’.
Electric Mary is band to be heard. They epitomize the Australian heritage of great pub rock.
