Not even a few burnt dinners by Jamie Oliver could hold back the Cherry Bar. After a fire destroyed Jamie Oliver`s Melbourne office upstairs from the bar earlier this year, the Cherry Bar is open for business from tonight.
The bar was closed in June after a fire swept through the building alongside AC/DC Lane. An irate former employee of Oliver was later charged with arson. The Cherry Bar, on the ground floor of the building, was damaged during the fire and has been closed ever since the fire in June.
The first night back tonight will welcome in the New Year with DJs Bill Walsh and James Young cranking out nothing but rock from 7pm till 3am.
The Cherry Bar opened in 1999 and was Melbourne’s first rock bar. It is one of Melbourne’s most popular “after-show” haunts for visiting bands.
The Cherry Bar is tucked away in the centre of Melbourne at 103-105 Flinders Lane and on the corner of AC/DC Lane.
