Kings Of Leon Maintains 2008 Lead

With just two and a hit weeks to go until the end of the year, Kings Of Leon looks like maintaining enough of a gap each week to keep Pink from the top spot for 2008. However, Metallica is about to drop from the top 5.

The Top 6 positions for the chat of 2008 have remained unchanged this week and I don’t think there is enough distance for Pink ‘Funhouse’ to accelerate past KOL’s ‘Only By The Night’.

The distance between 2 and 3 then 3 and 4 gives AC/DC a certain year end at number 3 and Coldplay will finish at number 4.

The 5th spot is the questionable one. The Metallica ‘Death Magnetic’ and ‘Mamma Mia’ soundtrack have narrowed to a gap of less than 500 units between 5th and 6th place.

‘Death Magnetic’ sold 2,680 units last week and is down at number 45. ‘Mamma Mia’ sold 5,408 units and is sitting at number 23.

Next week, expect to see ‘Mamma Mia’ take ‘Death Magnetic’s place in the Top 5.

Here is how the end of year chart is looking to date:

1. Kings Of Leon : Only By The Night (310,086)
2. Pink : Funhouse (294,188)
3. AC/DC : Black Ice (223,968)
4. Coldplay : Viva La Vida (211,898)
5. Metallica : Death Magnetic (133,089)
6. Soundtrack : Mamma Mia (132,629)
