Creedence Clearwater Revival legend John Fogerty is getting the old band back together but it is not CCR. Fogerty is reactivating the Blue Ridge Rangers.
Fogerty started his solo career under the guise of The Blue Ridge Rangers. He had a major hit with ‘Jambalaya’ under that moniker. In 2009, we will hear the second Blue Ridge Rangers album.
“This seems like the right time for the Blue Ridge Rangers to come back,” Fogerty said in a statement. “The last time around, it represented something of a clean slate for me and that country rock sound is still something I hold dear. We’re really excited about revisiting the whole sensibility that Blue Ridge Rangers represent.”
Fogerty has been recording the new album at Village Recorders in Los Angeles. Musicians include Buddy Miller, Dennis Crouch, Jay Bellerose, Greg Leisz, Jason Mowery, Jodie Kennedy, Kenny Aronoff and Hunter Perrin. Producers T Bone Burnett and Lenny Waronker are working on the project.
Expect the album to surface mid-2009.
