John Fogerty plans on celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary by imitating the lyrics from one of his classic songs ‘Proud Mary’ when he goes “rolling down the river” this weekend.
Fogerty and his wife Julie will celebrate 20 years of marriage on April 23rd. More than 40 years ago he wrote ‘Proud Mary’ and ‘Born On the Bayou’ about New Orleans.
The Fogerty’s will board the Mississippi River boat on Saturday. The boat will be renamed The Proud Mary for the day. John will sing his song on board while he sails down the Mississippi.
"I've loved the music from New Orleans all my life, even before I knew where that music came from," he said in a statement. "So when Julie and I talked about doing something special for our anniversary, even though we were married in Indiana, we could not think of a better way to celebrate than going down to the bayou with our children and friends. The New Orleans area has gone through some tough times the last few years but the spirit there is amazing and we have always felt incredibly happy there."
John released ‘Proud Mary’ with Creedence Clearwater Revival in January 1969.
