John Fogerty is frustrated that Stu Cook and Doug Clifford are continuing as Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
John Fogerty has had a long but fractured career. His work with Creedence Clearwater Revival remains a big seller, regularly appearing on the Billboard Top 200 albums, and his solo career has provided numerous additional classics. Unfortunately, his legacy has been hurt by lawsuits and others who want to prosper from the music that he wrote.
On Thursday, the Canadian Press published an article on Fogerty where he talks of the frustration with his former bandmates who tour as Creedence Clearwater Revisited. That conflict is acute when the band plays in a market right before he makes an appearance.
"I would prefer that that didn't happen," Fogerty said of his former bandmates touring with a name similar to the old CCR moniker.
"We had an agreement among ourselves way back in the day that we would never do such a thing, and having seen the result of these guys doing this now I still have the same opinion. I think it really confuses the fans.
"Using the name is sort of a sacrilege to what we believed when we were young guys in a band together — but you know, I don't sit around and worry about it too much."
Fogerty also said that he was getting ready to record new material.
