Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys is gearing up to release his solo debut album.
On the record, Auerbach plays guitar, bass, drums and keys as well as produces and engineers the record, although apparently he left the mastering up to someone else.“It's all over the map,” Auerbach told Billboard.com. "I write songs for the Black Keys, so some of them sound like they could be Black Keys songs. But some songs are just acoustic guitar. There's some real dark tunes and some psychedelic rumbas. It's all that stuff I grew up playing, all those bluegrass harmonies. I experimented a little bit with instrumentation.”
Auerbach will head off on a bunch of solo dates across the USA after the Black Keys finish up in Australia in January, but don’t expect to her any Black Keys songs. He claims these shows are totally separate from the Keys.
The album, ‘Keep It Hid’ will be released today. It’s track listing is:
