The best thing to come out of Ohio since hotdogs, The Black Keys are coming back to Australia to rock your world. (Its true, Ohio gave the U.S.A it's first hotdog in 1900).
The band is no stranger to Australian shores having toured here for the first time in 2003 on the release of their second album Thickfreakness. Since then they have toured here five more times, played every major
city and many regional towns multiple times, as well as Bluesfest, The Falls, Groovin' The Moo, Pyramid Rock and West Coast Blues & Roots festivals. They are loved from Darwin to Tassie, from Byron Bay to
Geelong.
Their latest (and seventh) album El Camino is now platinum in Australia, reaching #2 on the ARIA album chart. "Lonely Boy" the opening track has smashed it in achieving double platinum sales in Australia, reaching #2 on the ARIA single chart and #2 on the triple j hottest 100. Not bad for a band that started out as a two piece garage band playing small clubs. The Black Keys prove that the combination of good times, passion and awesome music can take band anywhere.
The shows will feature all the glitz of a ballroom blitz with giant mirror balls and visuals from around 20 projectors. If ya'll think that sounds spectacular, imagine it combined with one of the greatest rock n roll acts in the world right now. It's a recipe for rock and roll magic.
Joining the band on all shows will be Sydney's Royal Headache. These purveyors of DIY garage goodtimes are the one of the most exciting musical trips in Australia right now. Their debut self-titled album of last year appeared on top ten lists for best releases in 2011 by industry taste makers (the ones that know what they're talking about).
