New York based Aussie band Second Dan has recorded a song and made a video to support Barack Obama.
“We were approached by some Think About the Future productions to make a viral video for our song ‘We Can’”, Second Dan frontman Dan Rosen tells Undercover News.‘We Can’ was written and recorded for Second Dan to voice their opinion about the decisions to be made in the upcoming US election. “We are not preaching to you, nor asking you to change your mind. But we wanted to let you know what is on ours,” Dan says.
The band used social networking technology to get fans involved in the making of the clip. “We used Facebook to get people from around the US to upload photos of the themselves holding up signs with key lyrical phrases from the song "Think About the Future", "Find a New Solution", "Start a Revolution", "We Can" ... and we used many of these photos in the final clip,” he says.
Considering the importance of the American election, ‘We Can’ is a rare musical statement about the issue. There are so few Lennon’s or Vedder’s out there making musical statements these days. “I guess sometimes people don't want to hear political views from artists,” Dan says. ”But as artists, we feel and we care - and we write from the heart about what goes on around us. Sometimes that is about love, the highs and the lows. Sometimes, it is about friendship and sometimes, we are moved by the events that shape the world around us. Events that we often feel like we are helpless to impact or control. Sometimes writing about it helps us to deal, and make a dent in that feeling”.
