Melbourne born, New York based Second Dan is preparing for the release of the long overdue album 'Bringing Down Goliath'.
Fronted by singer/songwriter Dan Rosen, 'Bringing Down Goliath' was produced by another New York based Aussie Andy Baldwin.Rosen will release the album through Rola Pola Records, a label he has set up with Baldwin.
"The album was recorded at various studios including James Iha's studio in New York," Rosen tells Undercover News. "Rola Pola is mine and Andy's label".
Second Dan nearly completed an album in 2006 but it never surfaced. "The album was delayed and was originally coming out last year through a New York indie," he says. "Ultimately, it didn't work out. Most of the album is the same, but we recorded a couple more tunes and remixed the rest".
Last week, Dan's former girlfriend Minnie Driver dedicated a heart-felt thankyou to him on her 'Seastories' album. Dan has returned the compliment on 'Bringing Down Goliath'. "Minnie is credited. I kept it a little more understated," he says. She did some backing vocals but those songs didn't make the album. The songs with Minnie were from some LA sessions that didn't fit with this record. They are killer tunes, so they will surface one day. Maybe the next album."
Second Dan will launch 'Bringing Down Goliath' Wednesday, May 21, at the Mercury Lounge in New York.
