The world`s music industry is gathered this week in Berlin for Popkomm
Former Bee Gee Robin Gibb will give the keynote address at the opening ceremony tomorrow. Noted filmmaker Wim Wenders is also speaking at the conference.The host country for Popkomm 2008 is Turkey. Berlin has the biggest Turkish population outside Turkey. 13 Turkish acts will showcase over the three Popkomm nights. Their music will range from rock to pop to folk.
There will also be two panels on the music of Turkey during the event.
Australia also has a huge presence here. 15 Aussie acts will play, including Sarah McLeod and Clare Bowditch.
“We are experiencing a response by companies to the new conditions in the industry, and many of them have gone to great lengths in an effort to come up with new solutions,” says Dr. Ralf Kleinheinz, General Manager of Popkomm GmbH.
Popkomm will feature 400 music acts in the city of Berlin in the next three days.
