AC/DC Stays Clear of iTunes

AC/DC albums have never been released via iTunes and the band is not about to start allowing iTunes to get them.

Angus Young has been stating in interviews that the works of AC/DC should be viewed as complete albums and that each album represents an era in the bands history.

iTunes has a policy of allowing any song to be purchased from an album, effectively making every song on an album these days a single.

AC/DC has objected to iTunes reluctance to change their own rule and allow a band to stipulate how their music can be purchased.

So AC/DC had a simple solution. They have said no to iTunes.

It is noted that the two biggest selling catalogue bands in the world right now are The Beatles and AC/DC. Neither can be bought on iTunes.

In comparison, the Stones are on iTunes. They are currently ranked 6th for catalogue sales.

You have got to admire AC/DC for taking a stand. iTunes is recognised as the biggest music retailer in the world right now. 4 billion songs have sold through iTunes since it was launched.

AC/DC will release their new album ‘Black Ice’ as a good, old-fashioned CD on October 18.
