One of the last to hold out on the iTunes revolution, AC/DC have succumbed to the original lord of music distribution. They are now on iTunes.
Despite, sticking to their guns for years it has finally happened. Angus and Malcolm have for years insisted that iTunes is the death of the album. Angus Young has stated to Sky News in the past, "For us it’s the best way (not making their music available itunes). We are a band who started off with albums and that’s how we’ve always been. We always were a band that if you heard something (by AC/DC) on the radio, well, that’s only three minutes. Usually the best tracks were on the albums.” And to The Telegraph back in 2008, “If we were on iTunes, we know a certain percentage of people would only download two or three songs from the album – and we don’t think that represents us musically,”
Is the change of heart due to revenue generation? Who could say, but it is a pretty big back flip from the band.
Commencing today, AC/DC'S entire catalog will be available digitally. You can grab everything from the 1976 debut High Voltage to Back In Black and everything in between and after. The catalog also includes four live albums and three compilation albums.
If you care, all tracks are mastered for iTunes, and punters have the ability to download full albums or purchase individual tracks. http://www.iTunes.com/acdc
