Stevie Wonder will become the second recipient of the Gershwin Prize, an honour handed out by the U.S. Library of Congress.
The Library of Congress started the prize last year and awarded the first one to Paul Simon.The prize honours musicians who have contributed a lifetime to popular music.
"It's an immense privilege to join such a remarkable roster of musicians and composers," Stevie said in a statement. "I am touched to receive this honor, and look forward to creating music for the celebration."
Wonder will write a piece of music for the Library. He will accept the award on February 23.
