One of the world's loudest ambassadors for peace, Yusef Islam, was awarded the Mediterranean Peace Prize in Naples, Italy last week.
The award was presented to the artist for his contribution to raising peace in the world.Recently he returned to contemporary music, releasing the critically acclaimed album 'An Other Cup' - his first western album in 30 years.
Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, converted to Islam in 1977 and adopted the name Yusef Islam in 1979.
Since then he has defended his religion while attacking terrorist attacks commonly linked to Islam, such as September 11 and the London bombings, both of which he denounced as not in line with the teachings of Islam.
