Stevie Wonder has received his Commander of the Arts and Letters by the French Government 29 years after being named for the honour.
Wonder was in Paris yesterday (March 6) to accept his award from Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand. He was named granted the award in 1981 but claims scheduling conflicts have prohibited from collecting it until now."I receive this honour in memory of my mother and in memory of all of those that have made it possible for me to stand here today," Wonder said in a statement.
The French Government established the award back in the 50s. It recognises contributions to the arts from all over the world.
