Melbourne’s The Badloves are getting back together.
The line-up featuring Michael Spiby on vocals, Jak Housden on guitar, John Favaro on bass, Tony Featherstone on keys and Dave Hibbard on drums will play some select dates over the coming months.Original member Chris Tabone is the only one who didn’t want to get back with the old band because of “a bit of bad blood left over from the break up of the band - we cant even blame musical differences," Tony Featherstone told Undercover News.
Featherstone has been playing in Jimmy Barnes’ band for the last 12 months and Housden is a familiar face in The Whitlams. Michael has had a couple of solo albums over the years.
And there may be another album. “We plan to record some new stuff later in the year - i guess these shows are logical step to getting everyone into that head-space,” Tony says.
The Badloves formed in 1990 and got the first of the big breaks in ’92 when they supported Hall & Oates Aussie tour.
Their first album ‘Get On Board’ established them fairly quickly as one of the countries hottest live acts. The songs ‘Lost’, ‘Memphis’ and ‘Green Limousine’ were all radio hits.
Another album, another hit with ‘Caroline’ and collaboration with Jimmy Barnes on ‘The Weight’ kept The Badloves on the air every day.
Next came the live album ‘Everybody Everywhere’ and then it was suddenly over.
There have been a few shows in the 2000’s for The Badloves but this is the first time the band seems to be back to reclaim a piece of their heritage.
Dates for The Badloves are:
September 19 and 20, Sydney, Bridge Hotel
November 14 and 15, Melbourne, Capers
November 29, Robe South Australia, The Robe Festival.
