Radiohead will continue their publishing agreement with music giant Warner-Chappell, though speculation continues that the band may yet sign a recording contract with an independent.
The speculation was fuelled when frontman Thom Yorke released his recent album 'The Eraser' through XL Recordings. Yorke in particular has been a vocal critic of the mainstream music business.Speaking to The Scotsman in July, Yorke declared the music industry to be in a state of collapse, explaining, ""I'm not really into the idea of picking an enormous fight [with the music industry] because I think the structure of the music business is in a state of collapse anyway. There's no point in us trying to help. And it makes you sound really arrogant, like: 'Yeah, we're going to mess up the system.' The system's built us, so that would be a bit silly, wouldn't it?"
Warner/Chappell managing director Richard Manners said, "This keeps us in the Radiohead business for a substantial time. We are thrilled to have come to an agreement with the band."
