Barenaked Ladies have cancelled a scheduled performance for the Disney Music Bloc Party after singer Stephen Page was arrested yesterday on cocaine charges.
In a statement, “Barenaked Ladies Manager Terry McBride announced today that the music group has chosen to cancel its appearances at the Disney Music Block Party planned for late August in Long Island. “Members of the band completely support Steven Page,” said McBride, “but we don’t want to put Disney in an awkward position before issues involving Steven’s arrest are resolved.”Barenaked Ladies had recently recorded an album of kids songs titled ‘Snacktime’ so Page’s problems come at the worst possible time for the band. The group has been together for 20 years.
Page was arrested yesterday after police went to his house to report his missing car was found. They found cocaine at the premises. He is out on $10,000 bail.
