Bruce Springsteen will provide vocals on the new album from Boston punks Dropkick Murphys.
The long-standing punk rockers, probably best known for their musical appearance in The Departed, will have the Boss trading verses with their gruff singer Ken Casey.
Springsteen will appear on their cover of an old-timey tune Peg O’ My Heart from 1913.
It has been performed many times over the years, but many will remember it as the theme from the TV series The Singing Detective.
Casey said, “It links two generations. We’re spanning a lot of years of music here, yet our songs share similar themes, stories, and values.”
The Dropkicks’ forthcoming new album will be called Going Out Of Style and is the first on their own Born And Bred imprint. It’ll be out on March 1.
It will also feature guest vocals from longtime compatriot Fat Mike from NOFX.
