Atlantic records, the label for Stone Temple Pilots, has taken legal action against Scott Weiland and drummer Eric Kretz.
The recently reformed band is still under contract to the Warner Music Group label and owes the label another album but Weiland and Kretz have threatened to stop touring unless the contract is changed.Since reforming, the band has talked about a 6th studio album. Atlantic wants to release it and have option for two more albums, should they occur.
The legal action taken in New York requires Weiland and Kretz to fulfil their obligations under the original agreement
The band is back on the road for the first time in six years.
