Stone Temple Pilots are planning a trip to Australia for the first time ever in March.
The band’s tumultuous international relationship has seen tours planned for Australia in the past, but they never came to fruition, although front man Scott Weiland’s other band Velvet Revolver did make it here twice.
The band were a standout group in the American music industry of the 90s with classic albums including the legendary ‘Purple’, which featured singles ‘Vasoline’ and ‘Interstate Love Song’.
In 2010 they reformed and recorded a self-titled album to a mixed reception and their tour has been rocky to say the least. In September the band rescheduled a chunk of its U.S. tour to take “a break” and in August, Weiland fell off the stage in Cincinnati when his vocals suspiciously continued unaffected.
As someone who has been lucky enough to see this band live overseas, I can tell you they’re amazing, or at least they were in 2001. If you want to partake in the lucky dip that is their show, tickets are on sale on Friday, December 17 at 9am.
