Goth hardcore progenitors AFI are auctioning a signed skateboard to help pay for a friend's surgery.
Not a good sign for the American health care system that AFI pal Jim Miner needed the band to auction off a signed skateboard to pay for his wrist surgery. Miner's wrist is his business, being a tattooist and ex-guitarist for Death By Stereo. He has tattooed AFI singer Davey Havoc, plus members of Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu among others, so the band are repaying the favour. The skateboard deck, branded with graphics from their new album 'December Underground' as well as the band members' signatures, ended up going for US$1,700 on eBay. The band also donated two double passes to two Californian shows which sold today for US$1,320.
AFI have also announced they will tour Australia in November. This comes as a relief to fans mourning the cancellation of their 2006 Big Day Out slot. It's their first visit since 2003's sold out tour. Tickets go on sale September 20. Tourdates are as follows:
Sunday 12 November - Metro City, Perth
Tuesday 14 November - Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Thursday 16 November - Festival Hall, Melbourne
