The prosecution rests in the R. Kelly child pornography trial after witness Lisa Van Allen testified against the singer amidst a stream of tears.
Van Allen claimed to have three-way sex with the star and the underage girl in question on numerous occasions, some of which were filmed.During one of the encounters, she claimed that she began crying during a filmed er, "performance", which caused Kelly to leave the room immediately and take the video camera with him. He later told her that the crying ruined the film.
"I started crying ... because I didn't want to do it," she told jurors.
Van Allen was appointed an attorney before testifying, as some of her testimony could be self-incriminating, however it is believed that prosecutors granted her immunity.
Part of her testimony was self-incriminating because she admitted Kelly had told her the other girl was 16 (although she was believed to be 14), however, the legal age for consent in Illinois is 17.
Kelly was charged in this case six years ago and his lawyer, Sam Adam Sr., was quick to make note of it, saying "So the spirit didn't move you to do the right thing, this, until today? You tried to extort that man over there," while pointing at Kelly.
Adam also claimed Van Allen was a thief and a liar after she admitted to stealing a watch from Kelly in 1998. Van Allen, however, denies all claims of extortion, instead claiming that Kelly offered her $250,000 for a copy of the video.
