Sir Paul McCartney has received an honorary degree from Yale University. The former Beatle is now a Doctor of Music.
Work started to spread on the weekend that Sir Paul was up for the degree when he was spotted in the New Haven area. What made him even more obvious was that he was seen at one point hanging out with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, whose son attends the university.Yale doesn't publicize their degrees but the McCartney presence made it obvious that he was up for an honour.
He received his doctorate on Sunday. The University band played 'Hey Jude' as he was given his award.
Yale President Richard Levinhe presented Sir Paul with his degree. In reference to one of Paul's Beatle songs, he said, "here, there and everywhere, you have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics".
The newly appointed Doctor will not be available for house calls.
