Andre Rieu has topped the chart in Australia for one of the biggest weeks of the year, the lead-up to Mother's Day.
The number one album in Australia this week has gone to Andre Rieu. His Aussie album Waltzing Matilda sold over 17,000 copies in the Mothers Day sales week. Rieu also has 8 of the top 10 DVDs in Australia this week.Rieu's 'Waltzing Matilda' sold 17560 units last week (including 71 downloads to a few very tech mothers).
Meanwhile, on the DVD chart, Rieu owned positions 1,2,3,4,6,8,9 and 10 in the Top 10.
Rieu's 'Waltzing Matilda' blocked Idol's Damien Leith from the number one with the made for Mothers Day covers album 'Catch The Wind: Songs of a Generation'.
It was a close call. Leith lost the coveted position by less than 300 units.
Mother's Day gave rise to Michael Buble's 'Call Me Irresponsible', which jumped from no. 33 to no. 10 on sales of 4397.
Neil Diamond had a Mother's Day debut with his 'Home Before Dark' album debuted at no. 9 with sales of 5092.
