Rod Stewart plans to move on from his Songbooks and go back to recording R&B and country.
The move is not at all unusual for the 63-year-old superstar. A lot of the early Stewart recordings were based on both R&B and Country.On 1971's 'Every Picture Tells A Story', (to this date still his greatest album), Stewart covered The Temptations 'I Know I'm Losing You' and Tim Hardin's 'Reason To Believe'.
Other country songs covered by Rod include Bob Dylan's 'Girl From The North Country' and Jerry Lee Lewis' 'What Made Milwaukee Famous'.
R&B songs given the Stewart flavour include 'Standing In The Shadow of Love' and 'This Old Heart of Mine'.
Stewart's dilemma right now is that his label J Records doesn't want him to make a country album. "There's a Country and Western album I'd love to do, although the record company doesn't want it," he told Reuters. "We are still in the throes of talking about it. I very much doubt whether we will get it done this year."
Stewart's last album was 'Still The Same... Great Rock Classics Of Our Time' in 2006.
