Kylie Minogue is now the proud owner of a 'Chevalier Dans L'Orde Des Arts Et Des Lettres', France's highest award for contribution to the arts.
The award is the equivalent of a British knighthood.Kylie received the award this morning in Paris from France's cultural minister Chistine Albanel. In a statement Kylie said, "I am deeply honored to be recognized in this way. French culture has influenced me greatly and I have always had colossal respect for the arts and people of France."
The award is given for the "contribution to the enrichment of French culture". Ms. Albanel said Kylie was a "Midas of the international music scene who turns everything she touches to Gold".
Kylie will start her KylieX2008 tour tonight in Paris. The tour is expected to reach Australia in November.
The Order of the Arts and Letters has previously been bestowed to Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Clint Eastwood.
