Bluesman Jeff Healey has been given a send-off by his peers in Toronto.
A tribute concert took place on Saturday featuring his friends and favourite songs. Deep Purple's Ian Gillan sang 'When A Blind Man Cries', Alannah Myles did her hit 'Black Velvet' and Randy Bachman did his Guess Who hit 'American Woman' and his Bachman Turner Overdrive classic 'Taking Care of Business'.Cream's Jack Bruce performed. The show also featured appearances from Colin James, David Wilcox and Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards.
Cristie Healey, wife of Jeff, addressed the crowd midway through the show. "Jeff had a joy for life. He loved living, he loved his family, he loved music and it was truly a great passion for him in every sense," she said.
Jeff Healey died of cancer in March. Healey was 41.
