Carl Barat has confirmed that he will take part in an upcoming tribute record, to raise money for the late Joe Strummer's charity, Strummerville.
"Am I recording for Strummerville? Yeah, I've done that already. This fella just came round with his computer and said 'sing into this' and then he was gone," he told the rag. It's not clear who else is going to be on it, but he mentioned Pete Doherty and The Paddingtons.
It will be the first time Carl Barat and Pete Doherty have appeared on record together since Doherty was booted from The Libertines in 2004, although they were not in the same room together.
They will be recording 'Janie Jones', a Clash song about a famous London madam in the 70s. All proceeds will go to Strummerville, who will use the money to provide rehearsal space and studio time for "creative young people who would otherwise be prevented from [creating music] simply because they lack the necessary funds."
